SSI XR Technical Extended Range
This course is the continuation of the Extended range course. The Technical Extended range course will unlock new depths and allow you to go even further: You will be certified to dive down to 60 meters and use up to two decompression stages. This course is reserved for experienced technical divers.
The course can be done in a sidemount configuration if you have completed the Extended Range course with the sidemount configuration as well.
All we ask is…
- You have at least 70 logged dives
- 20 dives deeper than 30 meters
- 10 dives requiring staged decompression with at least one (1) gas switch (not including training dives).
Have at least one (1) of the following SSI certifications or an equivalent from a recognized training agency:
- Extended Range
- Full Cave Diving
- Technical Wreck Diving

Who is this for?
This course is a continuation of the Extended range course, and therefore is aimed towards confirmed technical divers who want to go even further. This course will reinforce what you learnt previously and challenge you to make you an even better diver. If you want to pursue the technical diving path, this course is for you!
Why do this course in Malta/Gozo?
Gozo and Malta have a lot of dive sites around the 60m mark, such as the dives found on the northern coast of Gozo, or some of the Heritage wrecks found off the coast of Malta. Gozo is the perfect training ground for this course due to the ease-of-access to deep dive sites. On top of that, those dive sites usually have a shallow section as well, making it easy to do the S-drills/Bubble checks before going deeper.
